An inlay is an intricate artwork involving fine craftsmanship with the fusion of marble, mother of pearl, metal, stone and gemstones shaped by hands and embedded into the base surface. An assortment collection of material is used for the base and the medium inlayed it as per the design requirement.
Steps to inlay:
- Cleaning & Tracing: The surface design needs to be cleaned and traced with special inks.
- Engraving: Upon tracing of designs a mat area is finely engraved using hand tools and an extra-fine blade.
- After completion of engraving by the artisans, the area is wide off for a smooth finish to inlay the medium with the help of imported adhesives.
- Consecutively, the area is filled with epoxy and evenly distributed for an appropriate fit into the engravings.
- On placing the mother of pearl,the excess epoxy is forced out and cleaned.
- The stone is polished thoroughly as a final touch to the peace of art.
- It is left for drying for a firm bond.
On completion of all the steps, the design is ready to flaunt.
